LO1 Analysis of 5 soap operas
The editing techniques that they have used are putting animations around the characters, the characters interact with the animation to give the illusion that it is real. There is also text on the screen and on the cherry at the beginning and end this is to show the audience what the show is called. There are also jump cuts from character to character this gives a smoother transition.
The shot types in this title sequence are a close ups, this is used to show the character expression and this will give the audience some indication about their personality. There are also mid shots to show the revel more about the characters to what body language they have. There are also panning shots to show more of the graphics to the audience and also to introduce the different characters.
One of the editing techniques for this title sequence is the fade in-between each shot. This is to make a smoother transition and it also follows the beat of the song which makes it look more natural. The text 'Coronation Street' also fades into the shot at the end. This is to show the audience what the show is called.
All of the shot in this title sequence are either a vertical or a horizontal pans with a shallow depth of field. This is because all the shots are introductory shots and they show the audience the location and what is recognisable about it e.g the pub.

There may also by SFX used to make the noise more dramatic when Phil falls. This will make the situation more serious to the audience.
Close ups are used a lot in this scene because the characters are very angry in it and close ups show their facial expressions. Mid shots are also used for the same purpose but to show the body language of the characters. The mid shots also show the facial expressions of the people in the background reacting to the argument.

Over the shoulder shots are used in this scene this makes it easy for the audience to see the characters reacting to what has been said to them and it also provides a close up.
